This course serves as the introduction to a later module for advertising specialisation. It introduces the discipline of advertising and the basics of advertising research, copywriting, media planning, and advertising management. This module serves as an introduction to later modules in the advertising specialisation and gives learners an overview of the advertising industry and the management of the advertising function. The module traverses the interrelationship of the advertising institutions, the advertisers, the advertising agencies and the media.

NoteTo enter the Bachelor of Mass Communications (Hons) programmes (Pathway) applicants will need to have the following pre-requisites:


i. A pass in senior high school or its equivalent with a minimum of Grade C (GP 2.00) in any 2 subjects and a credit in English at O level or its equivalent;           

ii. A Level or its equivalent with a minimum Grade E in any 2 subjects and a credit in English at O level or its equivalent;  

iii Matriculation/Foundation with CGPA 2.00 and a credit in English at O level or its equivalent; 

iv Diploma or equivalent with a min. CGPA of 2.00 and a credit in English at O level or its equivalent;

 v. A Diploma in Media and Communication or its equivalent
