fbpx Micro-credential certification in Introduction to Strategic Management MGT3333 (BBM) | Africa Open Learning
Overview:
Strategic management is essentially the study of how some social systems come to be better than others at fulfilling their, principally economic, purposes. In order to pursue this study, it is necessary to fuse organization theory and economics, with neither discipline taking precedence over the other. Although the course leans quite heavily upon particular theoretical constructs, such as bounded rationality and evolutionary and resource-based theories of the firm, the approach is basically integrative.  In a broader educational context, strategic management can be viewed as having two special roles in the curriculum. The first, as a capstone module that integrates learning from other disciplines, and second, as an ideal medium for honing students’ reasoning skills. In analyzing a strategy case study, they need to combine qualitative and quantitative evidence and come to a rigorously reasoned conclusion.
