This course covers the changing family and community structures, patterns, and relationships, and their impact on early childhood education. Family theories, factors contributing to family diversity as well as legislation, public policies and the current issues relating to families and communities are examined. The roles and responsibilities of families, communities and early childhood professionals as they support, nurture and educate young children are discussed.
